Guizhou News, July 5th (Reporter Zhou Yanling) The "Green Water and Green Mountains are Gold and Silver Mountains" Theoretical Practice and Innovation Theme Forum of the 2025 Ecological Civilization Guiyang International Forum was held in Guiyang on the 5th. The attendees discussed the path of "green water and green mountains are gold and silver mountains" and discussed strategies for the development of ecological products and green productivity.

2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the concept of "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver", and also the sixth time that the "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver" themed forum has been held at the Guiyang International Forum on Ecological Civilization. The theme of this forum is "Ecological Products and Green Productivity", aiming to provide Chinese solutions and actions for realizing the value of ecological products and promoting green sustainable development through sharing vivid practices and typical experiences of international and domestic sustainable development.

Zhang Yujun, Director of the Natural Ecology Protection Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, stated that a good ecological environment is an important condition for sustainable economic and social development. Without "green mountains and clear waters", all wealth in human society will become water without source and wood without roots. The "Two Mountains" theory profoundly reveals a new path for global sustainable development. In the future, we will increase the practical innovation of the concept of "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as gold and silver", and contribute more "Chinese wisdom" to global sustainable development and the construction of the Earth's community for life.

Liu Shijin, Chief Advisor of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development and former Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, introduced that in the past decade, the most significant change in China's green transformation has been the rapid rise of low-carbon green industries. China has been at the forefront of the world in the production, research and development investment, and consumption of low-carbon green industries. Currently, green low-carbon industries have become the most active field in various markets in China. Due to the decisive role of market forces in industrial development, China has embarked on a path of low-carbon green technology and industrial development that is different from Europe.

The governance case of Nanming River in Guiyang has been focused on by the forum. Hou Feng, a Chinese member of the Advisory Committee of the Guiyang International Forum on Ecological Civilization and Chairman of China Water Environment Group, said that the rapid development of the city has led to the deterioration of the water quality of Nanming River. With the attention and support of previous provincial and municipal leaders, and through the joint efforts of experts, enterprises, and the people, the first distributed sinking and regenerated water ecosystem in China has been successfully achieved. After governance, Nanming River has remained stable at Class IV surface water throughout the year, and reached Class III surface water in August last year. This system replenishes 500 million cubic meters of water annually for the Nanming River ecosystem, increasing the coverage of submerged plants from 15% to 80%, and releasing land resources to build public service facilities such as ecological parks and libraries. Today, the Nanming River has transformed from a "black and odorous river" to a beautiful river with clear water, green banks, shallow bottoms, and harmonious human water.

In the achievement release stage, the case collection of typical experiences and innovative practices in ecological civilization construction in Guizhou - "Typical Case Collection of Guizhou's' Two Mountains' Transformation" - was officially released. The book selects a total of 30 typical cases and comprehensively presents the diverse paths and local explorations of the "Two Mountains Transformation" through five dimensions: natural resource asset property rights protection, ecological restoration and system governance, ecological industrialization and industrial ecologicalization, realization of ecological product value, and rural comprehensive demonstration.

In the international case exchange session, five international experts vividly demonstrated the vivid practice of the concept of "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver" in different countries and fields through exchange speeches. Subsequently, six outstanding domestic representatives from different fields comprehensively demonstrated China's innovative exploration and remarkable achievements in implementing the "Two Mountains" concept from the dimensions of government governance, technological innovation, industrial transformation, theoretical construction, practical path, and green campus.

Wu Ke, Deputy Director level Supervision Commissioner of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, pointed out in his summary that the speakers elaborated on the important significance of ecological civilization construction from different perspectives, deeply explored the theoretical value and practical path of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, shared typical experiences of global green development, exchanged innovative practices to promote ecological civilization construction, and provided important intellectual support for promoting the coordinated governance of mountains, waters, forests, fields, lakes, grasses, and sands, achieving the "dual carbon" goal, and assisting global sustainable development.
