On the banks of the Meishe River, many citizens and tourists can be seen relaxing and exercising by the river. The Meishe River passes through three districts of Longhua, Qiongshan, and Meilan in Haikou City. It was once directly discharged into the river due to sewage, and residents along the coast called it the "Stinky Water Gully". After governance, the Meishe River has restored its ecological environment with clear water and green banks, and was elected as the second "Most Beautiful Hometown River" in the country.
