Colorful Guizhou Network | Distributed Sinking Regenerated Water Ecosystem Injecting New Vitality into Urban Development
2023-08-15The first Guizhou Science and Technology Festival will be held from August 5th to 9th, including technology exhibitions, popular science education, and technology exchanges. In order to convey the good voice of Guizhou's acceleration of building a strong province with distinctive science and technology, and to promote the confidence and determination of high-quality development in the province, Colorful Guizhou Network has launched the "Science and Technology" Guizhou Tour "column, telling typical stories of Guizhou's science and technology enterprises and figures.
"It's hard to imagine that there is a technologically advanced sewage treatment plant 'hidden' under the park, which not only saves land but also does not affect residents."
"I am quite interested in this technology. In addition to providing citizens with a place to get close to nature, it can also improve the efficiency of recycled water utilization."
On August 5th, among the numerous exhibition areas of the first Guizhou Science and Technology Festival, the "Distributed Sinking Regenerated Water Ecosystem" sand table model exhibited by China Water Environment Group's Guizhou business area attracted many visitors to stop.
The staff explained to the audience the distributed undergroundreclaimed water ecosystem
The system technology is independently developed by China Water Environment Group and adopts the concept of "environmental friendliness, land intensification, and resource utilization" for sunken design. The sewage treatment is completed underground, and landscape water parks, sports fields, children's entertainment facilities are constructed on the ground. The land area is only one-third of that of traditional ground sewage treatment plants, achieving "one floor, two layers, and multiple uses".
"Guiyang is the first city in China to build a distributed undergroundsewage treatment ecosystem." Cao Xiaoxin, Deputy General Manager of Guizhou Business Area of China Water Environment Group, introduced that Guiyang's successful practice not only achieved the long-term purification of the Nanming River, but also solved the problem of land use for sewage treatment facilities construction in mountainous cities.
Nanming River is the "mother river" of Guiyang City, a tributary of the Wujiang River in the Yangtze River system, and an important ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. However, since the 1980s, with the rapid development of the economy and society and population growth, a large amount of domestic and industrial wastewater has been directly discharged into the river, leading to the continuous deterioration of the water quality and increasingly serious pollution of the Nanming River.
"The treatment of water environment in river basins is an extremely complex system engineering. For example, the Nanming River, which flows through cities over long distances, passes through densely populated areas, and pollutes heavily polluted rivers with black and odorous odors, there are no successful cases to follow." Cao Xiaoxin told reporters that in the past, the majority of urban sewage treatment methods at home and abroad were concentrated on building large sewage treatment plants downstream of urban rivers, collecting and transporting sewage for long-distance centralized treatment downstream. This mode of engineering construction and management is difficult, and interception ditches and end treatment are prone to overload operation. The underground long-distance transportation of sewage pipelines is also prone to environmental risks such as leakage and overflow, leading to a stalemate of "repeated treatment and pollution".
How to design sewage collection, treatment, and reuse well, and treat the treated water as a stable and reliable water resource for the city, became the main problem in the pollution control of Nanming River at that time.
Due to the typical karst topography of Guiyang and the scarcity of water and land in the city, the construction of pipeline networks, high operating costs, and difficult water use scheduling pose great challenges to the planning, design, and construction of sewage treatment plants.
"Ten years ago, we conducted more than six months of research on the Nanming River, traveled along the main and tributaries of the river, identified the sources of pollution, and conducted systematic research on its current situation and future trends. Cao Xiaoxin stated that based on this, they pioneered the governance concept of" moderate concentration, on-site treatment, and nearby reuse ", changing the traditional technology route of" large-scale centralized "treatment and discharge worldwide, and forming an innovative technology system for distributed sinking and regenerated water ecosystems for sewage treatment and resource utilization.".
Under scientific and effective governance, prominent problems such as heavy sedimentation, blackening of water, and strong odor in the core section of the Nanming River have been effectively solved. The self purification capacity of the river has been strengthened, and the water quality in the central urban area has stabilized to Class IV, with some areas reaching Class III or above; The coverage rate of submerged plants has increased from 15% to 80%, and the Nanming River has regained its vitality. At the same time, through distributed sinking and regeneration water ecological technology, more than a thousand acres of land have been saved in Guiyang City, saving 158 million yuan in annual water diversion fees.
Drawing on the successful practice of the Nanming River, the distributed sinking regenerated water ecosystem has been promoted and applied in 22 provinces and cities across the country. This technology system has become the only green new infrastructure water technology recommended by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other five ministries.
China Water Environment Group Exhibition Area
"Garbage is a resource misplaced. Sewage can also be 'turned into treasure' through technological treatment. Cao Xiaoxin introduced that recycled water has a great characteristic, which is cold in summer and hot in winter.". Taking Guiyang as an example, the temperature of reclaimed water treated by the recycled water plant in summer is about 10 ℃ lower than room temperature; In winter, the average temperature can reach 18 ℃ -19 ℃, much higher than the temperature of tap water exposed to cold air. By utilizing the temperature difference between water and air, heating and cooling effects can be achieved.
In order to implement the centralized heating and cooling project for recycled water, China Water Environment Group will build and install large-scale water source heat pump units near the China Railway · Shanghe Jincheng community. The sewage source heat pump system will extract heat from the sewage, convert it into heat energy, and release energy in the heating system, which will then be transmitted to surrounding residential areas, schools, hospitals, and shopping malls, achieving winter heating and summer cooling.
Cao Xiaoxin said that through this type of "water air conditioning", the once "dirty" water can be transformed into high-quality "green energy". Compared to traditional heating modes such as natural gas boilers and central air conditioning, centralized heating with recycled water can save about 30-40% of energy.
At present, there is no large-scale implementation of recycled water centralized heating and cooling projects in Guiyang city. The group plans to use this project as a pilot to explore the feasibility of this approach.
"In the past, when it comes to sewage treatment plants, many people's first reaction was often 'dirty, messy, and smelly', but now we are working hard to make recycled water plants a beautiful scenery in the city. Cao Xiaoxin said that in the future, the recycled water from recycled water plants will gradually be used in various aspects such as road watering, green irrigation, and fire water in Guiyang, injecting new vitality into urban development.".
