On the eve of the first National Ecological Day (August 15), the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the list of the eighth batch of national ecological environment science popularization bases to be named. Among them, China Water Environment Group Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Sinking Reclaimed Water Plant and Guiyang Qingshan Sinking Reclaimed Water Plant Project Surface Water Environment Science Museum were selected.

The National Ecological Environment Science Popularization Base is a science popularization base approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is an important position to popularize the knowledge of ecological environment science and technology for the public, publicize the achievements of ecological civilization construction, and improve the ecological and scientific and cultural quality of the whole people. It is exemplary in carrying out social, mass and regular science popularization activities and is an important part of the science popularization base with national characteristics.

The selected Guiyang Water Environment Science Museum was designed and built by China Water Environment Group and operated and managed by Guiyang River and Lake Protection Center; It is the first popular science education base for water science and technology, water culture and water environment protection open to the public free of charge in Guiyang, as well as the environmental publicity and education base and water saving education base in Guizhou Province, with a total area of about 22,400 square meters. Among them, the exhibition hall covers an area of about 1,600 square meters, and the ground living water landscape park covers an area of about 18,000 square meters.

Guiyang Qingshan Reclaimed Water Plant Ground Guiyang Water Environment Science Museum

The first sunken reclaimed water plant in Guiyang, known as the Qingshan Reclaimed Water Plant of China Water Environment, operates beneath the Science Museum. The treated reclaimed water serves as replenishment water for landscape parks, achieving sewage resource utilization, water resources conservation, and land efficiency. Additionally, it plays a vital role in water environment protection and serves as a platform for water ecological science and technology education and display.

Guiyang Water Environment Science Museum carries out water-saving knowledge research activities

Since its opening in 2016, Guiyang Water Environment Science Museum has received more than 100,000 people from various social organizations, citizens and students. Through the sound, light, shadow and electricity effects such as popular science movies and interactive facilities, combined with underground reclaimed water plants, an immersive popular science display effect has been formed, which makes the popular science of water knowledge more infectious. At present, Qingshan Reclaimed Water Plant has been selected as one of the top ten environmental protection facilities open units of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in 2023 and the National Water Regime Education Base of the Ministry of Water Resources.

The National Ecological Environment Science Popularization Base has become the main battlefield for the public to visit and learn environmental protection science knowledge by continuously improving its display ability, innovation ability and management level. Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Sinking Reclaimed Water Plant of China Water Environment Group is the first demonstration project of sinking reclaimed water plant in Shanghai. The living water landscape park and the first water environment science education center, which integrates publicity, science popularization, and education in East China, are constructed on the factory area's grounds. The park's water system and the expansive ecological lake, spanning over 20,000 square meters, utilize high-quality reclaimed water, earning the title of "the most beautiful water plant in China." This not only offers residents a picturesque leisure destination but also serves as a crucial element in promoting the science and display of water ecological technology.

Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Water Environment Science Museum

Among them, Shanghai Jiading Water Environment Science Museum covers an area of about 3,000 square meters. Since its opening in 2018, it has received more than 500 times, with over 10,000 visitors online and offline. Focusing on popular science water knowledge, water resources utilization and protection, the exhibition hall displays the world's advanced sewage treatment technology, urban water resources planning and construction, etc., actively conveys the concept of ecological environmental protection and sustainable development to the public, advocates public water saving and love the water, and stimulates the public's enthusiasm for personally participating in the protection of green mountains and green mountains. The factory achieved recognition as one of the Top Ten Open Units with Environmental Protection Facilities in 2022 and was designated as the Shanghai Science Popularization Base for 2023-2024.
