Shanxi Ankang TV Station丨Championing the responsibility for uninterrupted clean water supply to the northern regions

In recent years, Ankang in Shaanxi Province has achieved notable success in water ecological protection. The city embraces the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," with a focus on elevating the quality of the ecological environment. Ankang is committed to expediting key construction projects and enhancing the quality of ecological environmental protection efforts in housing and construction. This approach ensures the effective execution and smooth operation of various ecological and environmental protection initiatives, resulting in stable water quality that complies with established standards. In a recent interview, Ankang Radio and Television Station explored how the Shaanxi Guanmiao Reclaimed Water Plant, operated by China Water Environment Group, is actively shouldering the responsibility of ensuring a continuous supply of clean water to the northern regions.

As the construction of water supply and drainage integration projects progresses in the downtown area, efforts to accelerate sewage treatment and reclaimed water utilization projects are underway to comprehensively enhance water environment treatment efficiency.

A visit to the project site of the Guanmiao Reclaimed Water Plant in Ankang Central City, Guanmiao Town, Hanbin District, operated by China Water Environment, revealed workers diligently engaged in various tasks, with large machinery and vehicles operating at full speed, creating a bustling scene.

The Guanmiao Reclaimed Water Plant, with an investment of approximately 346 million yuan and a designed daily sewage treatment capacity of 50,000 tons, aims to enhance the sewage treatment capabilities of Jiangbei District in Ankang Central City, consequently improving the overall quality of the urban water environment.

Ankang City, serving as a key water source for the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, takes the lead in advancing project construction and consistently works towards enhancing the sewage treatment system. Up to now, a total of 167 facilities of two factories (fields) have been built in Ankang City, with the coverage rate of town-level sewage treatment facilities reaching 72%. Successful initiatives include the renovation of water bodies such as the Jiangnan Reclaimed Water Plant and Qiligou, contributing significantly to the modernization of urban sewage treatment capacity.

Water circulation treatment is of great significance for controlling water pollution, protecting the water environment and ensuring water security of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project. Jiangnan Reclaimed Water Plant of China Water Environment was put into operation in October 2019 with a construction scale of 80,000 m³ per day. The project adopts the distributed sunken reclaimed water ecosystem technology and utilizes the treated sewage as a resource. The effluent meets the Class IV standards of surface water. This project plays a crucial role in improving the water environment quality of Ankang City, enhancing the urban living environment, uplifting the urban image, ensuring the stable water quality of the Hanjiang River, and maintaining a continuous supply of clean water to the northern regions.
