Guizhou News Network丨Peng Yongzhen, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering: China''s urban sewage treatment technology is on par with international standards.

During the 2023 Eco Forum Global Guiyang, Guizhou News Network specially planned the column Join Us, inviting government leaders, experts and scholars at home and abroad, and outstanding representatives of the industry to conduct in-depth exchanges on topics such as green and low carbon, sustainable development, water pollution prevention and control, and digital and green coordinated transformation. 

Academician Peng Yongzhen, a distinguished figure from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief professor of environmental science and engineering at Beijing University of Technology, was invited to provide an in-depth interpretation of the developments and transformations in sewage treatment, focusing on the Nanming River case.Academician Peng Yongzhen noted a significant improvement in the Nanming River's environment over the past decade, resulting in clearer water. He noted that "In recent years, Guiyang has constructed 21 sunken sewage treatment plants to enhance water quality and reduce costs, aligning with the global low-carbon economy development model."

In the last two years, China has experienced notable shifts in sewage treatment methods, with a particular emphasis on the use of sunken sewage treatment plants to enhance water quality.Academician Peng Yongzhen underscored China's environmental protection companies actively sharing their expertise globally, citing instances like the construction of sewage treatment plants in Thailand and Malaysia. He asserted that, in the field of urban sewage treatment, China is on par with the international community.
