Guizhou Daily | Hou Feng, Chairman of the Board of the China Water Environment Group: Joining hands to construct ecological civilization and create high-quality development in Guizhou

On the afternoon of July 9, Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023, with the theme of "Pursuing Modernization of Harmony Between Humanity and Nature-Promoting Green and Low-Carbon Development", was successfully concluded.

At the closing ceremony, Hou Feng, Chairman of the Board of the China Water Environment Group, said in his speech that Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023 played an increasingly important role in spreading thoughts on ecological civilization, boosting international cooperation and promoting technological innovation. Since the 18thNational Congress of the Communist Party of China, Guizhou has thoroughly implemented President Xi Jinping's thoughts on ecological civilization and achieved related remarkable results in this field. “Lucid waters and lush mountains” have become a landmark in Guizhou. The achievements of ecological civilization construction in Guizhou not only provided a better ecological environment for the Guizhou citizens but also offered an experience and mode for other regions to learn from.

"We have built 21 distributed sunken reclaimed water plants along the Nanming River, restoring the ecology of 185 kilometers of river course and serving a population of over 5 million. Notably, the project achieved a remarkable 45% reduction in total investment, preserving more than 1,000 mu of land. The water quality consistently meets Class IV standards for surface water throughout the year and reached Class III for ten months in 2022. The project won the honor of the National Demonstration Project for treating the mother river awarded by the three ministries and commissions of the country." Hou Feng said.

Hou Feng introduced that the China Water Environment Group, a professional technology enterprise for water environment treatment and resource utilization, has been actively involved in Guizhou since 2014, particularly in the comprehensive treatment of the Nanming River. The Group has seen the Nanming River turn into a vibrant waterway, with clear water, plenty of fish, and green hills where egrets gracefully fly. The treatment of the Nanming River has become "world-first innovative practice of a distributed sunken reclaimed water ecosystem at the city scale," contributing significantly to establishing the "Guiyang model" for urban treatment of the main river.

"The forum is coming to an end, yet the journey of ecological civilization construction has just begun. We are set to work with the government, the people, and our partners to build up ecological civilization and high-quality development in Guizhou." Hou Feng appealed.
