Grand gathering witnesses concerted success

The BEYOND 2023 International Science and Technology Innovation Expo, which kicked off on May 10, 2023, brought together a group of technology giants and elites, adding a finishing touch to Macao's technology blueprint. Focusing on "sustainable development", "life sciences", and "consumer technology", the BEYOND Expo 2023 takes root in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to absorb innovative ideas from all over the world so as to bolster exchanges in various sectors.

BEYOND Expo 2023 has set up a nearly 100,000 square meter exhibition at the Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition Center, attracting over 1,000 exhibitors from Fortune 500, large national cooperations, unicorn companies, and new startups.

According to Ho Iat Seng, BEYOND has become a momentous platform for high-tech achievements display, trade negotiations, technical exchanges, and talent aggregation. Integrating innovative resources and elements, BEYOND will bring more opportunities for Macao's scientific and technological development.

Ho Iat Seng also believes that this event, by giving full play to Macao's advantages, provides new momentum to Macao's exhibition, science and technology, trade and commerce, drives the diverse development of the local economy and industry, and enhances the dual circulation of domestic and foreign markets. Adhering to the "going out" and "bringing in” policy, bilateral investment and bilateral cooperation will also be greatly promoted. The BEYOND is a platform where the world can better learn about China's development philosophy, path, and model and where new forms of Chinese technology can be promoted to accelerate the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Hou Feng, Chairman of China Water Environment Group, was invited to deliver a keynote speech entitled "Innovation and Practice of Green and New Infrastructure Construction for Future Cities". According to Hou Feng, CWEG’s self-developed DURWecosystem brings along the application innovation. The plants were built aboveground in a distributed way now built underground in a centralized way. Four centers of water resources, green energy, digitalization, and comprehensive spatial utilization that are highly integrated with cities are taking shape. CWEG will support the Greater Bay Area in technological innovation and green industry development, and provide Chinese solutions for global sustainable development.

Technological revolution is the irresistible general trend

With multiple advantages in technology development, Asia has become the main engine of global economic growth in recent years. However, the world is experiencing unprecedented changes, and technological revolution has become the general trend. Against this backdrop, Asian countries and regions should involve in technological exchanges and cooperation with a more open mindset in order to foster sustainable development in Asia. BEYOND, as a platform for technology innovation exchange and cooperation, plays an active role in the development of the technology innovation industry in the Asia- Pacific region.

Macao takes this opportunity to support the Greater Bay Area in technological innovation, forward exchanges and cooperation in the digital economy, green industries, climate change, and health care towards an open, inclusive, balanced, and win-win direction, and continues to play a unique role in promoting the Belt and Road initiative. 

Since its first held in 2021, the BEYOND Expo has become one of the largest and most influential international science and technology expos. Focusing on "sustainable development", "life sciences", and "consumer technology", the Expo was held in Macao and Hengqin at the same time, which is expected to bring vitality into Macao's "1+4" moderately diversified development strategy, accelerate the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, deepen Guangdong-Macao cooperation, and speed up the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Greater Bay Area.
