Aiming to select outstanding role models, the 2023 “Act towards a Beautiful China” action plan to enhance citizens' ecological awareness kicked off in February this year, which has attracted all sectors from society. Procedures including recommendations, online voting, and expert review have led to a winning list. It is an important activity to promote the new development concept, encourage all sectors to fight against pollution, and jointly build a beautiful China. CWEG’s Chengdu Tianfu and Shanghai Jiading projects won the honor in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Qingshan underground WWTP science museum and ecological park
The Qingshan WWTP is the first WWTP built entirely underground in Guizhou Province. An ecological park and a science museum were built on the ground. As an international forum in Guiyang, the science museum is an education base covering water science and technology, water ecology, water environment protection, government water control policies, and water saving and is open to the public for free.
The Qingshan Underground WWTP has become an important window to display the ecological progress of Guiyang. In 2017, it was listed in the first batch of national environmental facilities and facilities for urban wastewater treatment open to the public by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and was also the first batch of pilot units open to the public in Guizhou Province. In 2020, it was named a historical landmark for ecological progress, attracting approximately 300 people annually and a total of over 5,000 people.
