German Ambassador to China praises China Germany Water Environment and Health Research Center for setting an example for comprehensive cooperation between China and Germany

On March 9, 2023, Dr. Patricia Flor, the German Ambassador to China, and Silke R ö fer, the German Consul General in Chengdu, visited the Sino German Water Environment and Health Research Center (WATCH) jointly established by the Group, RWTH Aachen University, and Sichuan University in Germany. Professor Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan University, Professor Shi Jian, former Vice President, Professor Yao Gang from RWTH Aachen University in Germany, as well as Dr. Pang Hongtao, Assistant to the President of China Water Environment Group and Executive Director of the Engineering Technology Center, and Dr. Gan Lili from the Engineering Technology Center, attended the meeting.

The Sino German Water Environment and Health Research Center is a key Sino German international cooperation project supported by the German Ministry of Education and Research. It focuses on the research of cutting-edge technology equipment, innovative models, standard systems, and achievement transformation in the field of water treatment, and promotes the application and promotion of international advanced technologies through its own industrialization platform. Over the past five years, we have achieved fruitful results in industry university research cooperation.

Associate Professor He Chuanshu from Sichuan University introduced the achievements of the center in research platform construction, academic frontier research, and student training. Dr. Pang Hongtao emphasized the exploration and achievements of the group as a representative of the central industry in the construction of industrialization platforms and the transformation of technology industries. He stated that the group's cooperation with RWTH Aachen University on the first domestic decentralized small-scale sewage treatment equipment testing platform has filled the gap in China's decentralized sewage treatment equipment testing technology and standard system, and introduced the governance effectiveness of water environment demonstration projects such as Chengdu Tianfu and Dali Erhai Lake.

Ambassador Fu Rong highly praised the work of the center for achieving practical international cooperation, especially the positive interaction and cooperation between Germany and China over the past three years of the epidemic, which has achieved gratifying results and set a good example for comprehensive cooperation between Germany and China. The German side will strengthen cooperation between the German Ministry of Education and Research, the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Education, as well as support for the long-term development of the center.

Technological innovation is the primary driving force for leading high-quality development. By strengthening international scientific and technological cooperation, aligning with international cutting-edge technologies, building an international scientific and technological cooperation base in the field of water environment between China and Germany, and connecting the chains of science and technology, education, talent, and funding, new momentum of technological innovation will be released for the high-quality development of water environment governance.
