Ministry of Ecology and Environment | Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant Selected as an Advanced Model for "Beautiful China, I am an Actor" in 2025

Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced the list of advanced models for "Beautiful China, I am an Actor" in 2025, and Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant was selected as one of the top ten environmental protection facilities open units. Since the implementation of the "Beautiful China, I am an Actor" Action Plan to Enhance Citizens' Ecological Civilization Awareness (2021-2025) by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Central Civilization Office in 2021, China Water Environment Group has been awarded the title of Advanced Typical Environmental Protection Facility Open Unit for five consecutive years.

The Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant, which was awarded this time, is one of the first batch of green and low-carbon benchmark plants in China, the fourth batch of environmental protection facilities open to the public, and an excellent environmental protection facility open unit in Beijing. As one of the achievements in the construction of ecological civilization in Beijing's urban sub center, Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant is of great significance in improving the water environment quality of Beijing's urban sub center, enhancing the quality of urban living environment, and ensuring the stable and compliant water quality of the Tongzhou Grand Canal.

Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant is the largest sunken reclaimed water plant in the sub center of Beijing, responsible for 84% of the domestic sewage treatment tasks in the sub center and serving a population of nearly 700000. The project adopts the group distributed sinking reclaimed water ecosystem technology, and its effluent quality reaches the Class IV standard of surface level. The 65 million tons of high-quality reclaimed water produced annually is 100% recycled for the landscape water of Universal Studios, the greening of the administrative office area, the ecological water supplement of Yudai River and other fields, which is equivalent to saving the water volume of a medium-sized reservoir for Beijing.

As a national level environmental protection facility open unit, Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant is open to the public all year round. Through the above ground ecological park, science popularization exhibition hall, and smart water plant display, it vividly presents the entire process of sewage purification and low-carbon technology application. In recent years, Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant has been awarded honors such as "National First Batch of Green and Low Carbon Benchmark Plants for Sewage Treatment" and "Beijing Water Conservation Education Base", and has been listed as a sewage treatment project at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, showcasing China's mega city water management experience to the world. Its "technology management collaborative innovation" model has been included in the national promotion list by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, providing a replicable "sub center sample" for solving the contradiction between urban development and ecological protection.

The transformation of Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant from "neighborhood avoidance facilities" to "urban green lungs" s the harmonious coexistence of ecological governance and urban development. In the future, the group will continue to promote the resource and energy utilization of sewage treatment through technological innovation, making more environmental protection facilities a "window" for the public to understand ecological civilization, and contributing to the construction of a beautiful China.
