Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant of the Group has been selected as one of the first batch of green and low-carbon benchmark plants for sewage treatment by two national ministries and commissions

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development jointly released the "List of Green and Low Carbon Benchmark Plants for Sewage Treatment and Their Experience and Practices" for the first time. China Water Environment Group's Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant was successfully selected as a benchmark plant for technology management collaborative innovation.

According to the Notice of the General Office of the National Development and Reform Commission and the General Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development on the Selection of Green and Low Carbon Benchmark Plants for Sewage Treatment (NDRC Huanzi [2024) No. 531), provincial development and reform departments, together with the housing and urban-rural development authorities, organized the application and review of a batch of representative sewage treatment plants. After expert evaluation and local review organized by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, 45 projects were finally selected.

The carbon emissions of the sewage treatment industry account for about 1% -3% of the total social emissions, and promoting industry emissions reduction and carbon reduction is of great significance for achieving the country's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. This selection work is the first time carried out by two ministries. The plan is to build 100 green and low-carbon benchmark factories for efficient and circular utilization of energy resources in sewage treatment by the end of 2025, promote positive progress in energy conservation, carbon reduction, and resource recycling in the sewage treatment industry, improve energy efficiency and carbon reduction capabilities, and comprehensively enhance the comprehensive efficiency of sewage treatment.

Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant adopts a distributed sunken reclaimed water ecosystem, replacing foreign technology with original technology from the group, to achieve optimized innovation in environmental pollutant and carbon emission control technology and pathways. By optimizing sewage treatment processes, recycling and utilizing resources and energy, and developing above ground carbon sinks, we can reduce carbon emissions, improve the ecological environment, and promote the city to embark on a green and low-carbon development path.

This selection is due to the active exploration of technological innovation by the group for a long time. The Beijing Bishui Reclaimed Water Plant of the group has become a new landmark for green development in the sub center of Beijing city, and has been selected as a typical case of China's pollution reduction, carbon reduction and synergistic efficiency enhancement in 2023 by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, injecting new impetus into global green development.
