On May 25th, the 2024 Beautiful China Hundred People Forum was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The theme of this annual meeting is "Building a Green River Basin and Building a Beautiful China". Huang Runqiu said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China's ecological and environmental protection has undergone historic, transitional, and global changes. Building a beautiful China is an important goal of comprehensively building a socialist modernized country. Strengthening the protection of water ecological environment and building green watersheds should be placed in an important position in the construction of a beautiful China. Group Chairman Hou Feng shares "Innovative and Regenerated Water Ecosystem Helps Beautiful River and Lake Construction"

Hou Feng, Chairman of the Group, and Wang Qiao, an academician of the CAE Member and a researcher of the Satellite Environment Application Center of the Ministry of Ecological Environment, discussed the topic of watershed management and beautiful rivers and lakes. Hou Feng shared a successful case of governance in the Nanming River Basin of Guiyang in "Innovating and Regenerating Water Ecosystems to Assist in the Construction of Beautiful Rivers and Lakes". He stated that after 10 years of governance, the Nanming River in Guiyang City has transformed from a black and odorous river into a clear and beautiful river. It cannot be separated from the support and participation of the government, experts, enterprises, and hundreds of people who adhere to the principles of "government leadership, mechanism innovation, legal governance, scientific and technological support, public participation, and long-term governance". The group has built 24 sunken recycled water plants along the Nanming River, repaired 180 kilometers of river ecology, not only improved water quality but also ecological environment, becoming a model of urban black and odorous river governance in China. Its scientific and technological innovation and effectiveness have been recognized by the international community, winning multiple international awards such as the IWA Project Innovation Award, and promoting the construction of a beautiful China and contributing to the world's water environment.
