Hold onto the Original Aspiration, Innovate for the Future! The China Water Environment Group Established Its Inaugural Strategic and Technological Committee

  On January 27, the inaugural ceremony of the Strategic and Technological Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Committee") of the China Water Environment Group was held in Beijing. Academicians and experts from the field of environmental science, authoritative scholars in digital economy, finance, public administration and other fields, as well as talents from government research centers and CCTV journalists, formed the inaugural Strategic and Technological Think Tank of the group, providing innovative guidance and strong support for the construction of a new development pattern and the promotion of high-quality development.

The meeting was chaired by Vice President Zhang Lujing, and Assistant to the President Pang Hongtao presented a report on the group's key scientific and technological work in 2023.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Professor of Beijing University of Technology, Peng Yongzhen, delivered a speech and keynote report. He analyzed and discussed issues such as the long hydraulic retention time for deep denitrification of urban sewage and the high energy and drug consumption, proposed suggestions for the group's direction of technological renewal and iteration based on efficient, low-carbon, and energy-saving new technologies, and answered questions about the difficulties in the group's technological exploration.

Peng Xushu, Director and Researcher of the Innovation Policy and Evaluation Research Office of the Institute of Quantitative and Technological Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered a speech titled Digital Technology Innovation Promotes Ecological Civilization Construction, explaining that digital technology, as a new production tool, is a typical general-purpose technology. It can not only improve the level of intelligent monitoring and supervision of the ecological environment but also construct an intelligent and efficient three-dimensional ecological environment digital system, greatly enhancing management efficiency and precision warning services.

Gao Ruidong, Chief Economist, Director of the Research Institute, and Managing Director of Everbright Securities, who participated in the Prime Minister's Economic Symposium and provided suggestions, delivered a keynote speech titled Outlook on the Global Economy and the Situation between China and the United States in 2024. He made trend judgments on external situations, the U.S. economy, domestic economy, and policy paths, helping the group closely align with the pulse of national economic development to make forward-looking strategic layouts.
