The group led the translation of the German energy consumption analysis standard for sewage treatment plants, which was officially published
2023-09-18Recently, the DWA-A 216 Energy Inspection and Analysis - Optimization Tool for Energy Utilization in Wastewater Treatment Systems (translated by Pang Hongtao, Li Peng, Yao Gang, Lu Xianchun, etc.) jointly translated by the group and Aachen University of Technology in Germany was officially published by Tsinghua University Press. It will provide important method references for the synergistic efficiency enhancement of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in the wastewater treatment industry, and has important reference significance for energy consumption assessment and energy optimization of China's wastewater treatment systems.
The German Water Resources, Wastewater, and Solid Waste Management Association (DWA) released the "Arbeitsblatt DWA-A 216 DWA-RegelwerkEnergiecheck und Energieanalyze Instrumentee zur Energieoptimierung von Abwasseralagen" (referred to as the "DWA-A 216 standard") in 2015, providing designers, operators, and regulatory authorities with practical work methods related to wastewater treatment system process and energy optimization. Subsequently, Fach ü bersetzungen Lanz et al. translated and published the standard into English.
This standard consists of 8 chapters and provides a detailed introduction to the methods of energy optimization in sewage treatment systems, including two major steps: energy inspection and energy analysis. The standard provides an additional method for energy inspection, which is used for preliminary directional evaluation of the energy status of sewage treatment systems. By comparing the current value of energy utilization in sewage treatment systems with the ideal value that can be achieved, detailed energy analysis is carried out to appropriately capture the actual potential for energy optimization in various sewage treatment plants, and practical and feasible measures are formulated to improve energy utilization.
Wastewater treatment plants are important municipal public infrastructure in cities and are also major energy consumers. How to save energy and reduce consumption, optimize the operation of sewage treatment systems, is a widely concerned focus in the industry. In terms of energy consumption in sewage treatment systems, a large amount of research has been conducted domestically, but there is still a lack of systematic (or unified or recognized) reference methods for evaluating whether the energy utilization of sewage treatment systems is optimal. The Chinese version of DWA-A 216 standard has been introduced and absorbed international advanced experience, providing a method reference for the high-quality development of China's sewage treatment industry.
The group has long been committed to Sino German technological cooperation and established the "Sino German Joint Research Center on Water Environment and Health" in collaboration with the Technical University of Aachen in Germany in 2017. It has carried out continuous cooperation in technology exchange, scientific research cooperation, industrialization, and talent cultivation between China and Germany. In 2021, the group and Tsinghua University translated and published the "ATV-DVWK-A 131 One stage Activated Sludge Process Design Specification" (translated by Yao Gang, Pang Hongtao, Shi Hanchang, etc.), providing reference for domestic sewage treatment plant process design. The publication of the Chinese translation of the DWA-A 216 standard is another important achievement of Sino German cooperation.
