School-enterprise Collaborative Endeavors丨Official inauguration of the joint training base by China Water Environment and Yunnan Dali Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
2023-09-11On September 1, 2023, the Joint Training Base for Professional Master's Degree of Yunnan Dali Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (hereafter referred to as the "Joint Training Base") officially commenced its operations. The base, in collaboration with China Water Environment, held a welcoming ceremony for the students of Grade 2022 in Dali. Various leaders from departments in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, experts from different colleges of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, enterprise tutors from the joint training base, and all students from the Grade of 2022 attended the ceremony.
The Joint Training Base was established in conjunction with the the Yunnan Dali Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It draws on the expertise of water environment specialists from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Jianshui Purple Pottery Joint Research Center, and China Water Environment. The base also incorporates experts from collaborating enterprises as joint training instructors, aiming to provide comprehensive training for professional master's degree students, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Collaborating with the School of Departmental Science and Engineering, the joint training base is enlisting master's degree students specializing in resources and the environment. This September marked the initiation of research endeavors by the inaugural cohort of 15 students, focusing on projects related to Erhai Lake protection, sewage treatment, and ecosystem studies.
2022 Student Welcome Ceremony at the Joint Training Base for Professional Master's Degree of Yunnan Dali Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Wang Xinze, the Dean of Yunnan Dali Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, began the Welcoming Ceremony by extending sincere gratitude to Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, schools, and businesses for their unwavering support. He emphasized the institute's commitment to taking on the responsibility of introducing and educating local talent. The institute, he explained, aligns its efforts with the local guide, intertwining talent training with the dynamic needs of the region's economic and social development. The overarching goal is to cultivate a cadre of professional and technical talent capable of addressing real-world challenges, who are eager to work at the forefront, and exhibit unwavering dedication.
Yang Heng, a member of the Organization Department of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture Committee of the Communist Party of China, offered full acknowledgment for the Institute's commendable work in talent introduction and training. He took the opportunity to share the preferential policies regarding scientific and technological innovation, talent introduction, and retention in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture with all teachers and students. Yang sincerely expressed his hope that students would embark on a rich and fulfilling study life in Dali, encouraging them to immerse themselves in the local culture, integrate into the community, develop an affection for Dali, consider staying, and excel in their academic pursuits.
Dr. Jiang Leyong, the Deputy General Manager of the Engineering Technology Center at China Water Environment, serving as the representative enterprise tutor for the joint training base, presented to the students a comprehensive overview of the scientific research and demonstration projects undertaken by the Group in the Erhai Lake. Dr. Jiang affirmed the Group's commitment to further leveraging the R&D and production base in Yunnan, ensuring a conducive environment for internships and practical experiences. The Group pledged continuous support for scientific research endeavors and the enhancement of high-level talent training, aiming to create favorable conditions for students to secure employment opportunities.
As the primary partner in the joint training base, the Group has made significant strides in scientific research, personnel development, and social services since signing a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2016. To leverage mutual strengths, the Group aims to expedite the transformation of scientific achievements, enhance collaboration in high-level research and personnel training, and jointly establish an academic exchange platform. This effort aims to provide a conducive research environment for emerging young talent, contributing to the development of an ecological civilization in the new era.
