World Environment Day National Main Venue Event | China Water Environment Group''s Guiyang Qingshan Sunken Reclaimed Water Plant Received Award
2023-06-06On June 5, 2023, the 2023 June 5th World Environment Day National Main Venue Event, jointly organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Office of the Central Guiding Committee for the Construction of Spiritual Civilization (Central Civilization Office), and the Shandong Provincial Government, took place in Jinan. During the event, the list of the 2023 Hundred Most Beautiful Ecological Environment Volunteers, Top Ten Public Participation Cases, Top Ten Environmental Facilities Open Units, and other advanced and exemplary names were announced. China Water Environment Group's Guiyang Qingshan Sunken Reclaimed Water Plant was honored as one of the Top Ten Environmental Facilities Open Units and was invited to receive an award.

This event, themed around "Building a Modernization where Humans and Nature Harmoniously Coexist", featured one main venue event, one forum, and numerous supporting activities. It focused on showcasing the achievements in ecological and environmental protection in the new era, guiding society to become active promoters and model practitioners of ecological civilization, and laying a solid social foundation for building a modernization where humans and nature harmoniously coexist. The event also released the Ten Rules of Civic Ecological Environmental Behavior.

The award winner Qingshan Sunken Reclaimed Water Plant emerged as one of the top ten from 53 candidate units nationwide. It is Guiyang's first sunken reclaimed water plant and is accompanied by the city's first water environmental science museum. This plant serves as a public and free educational base for water technology, water ecology, and water environmental protection. It presents various aspects of water environmental knowledge, including Guiyang's water resources, water culture, government water management policies, and water conservation education.

As an essential showcase of Guiyang's achievements in ecological civilization construction, the Qingshan Sunken Reclaimed Water Plant has become one of the venues for the Guiyang International Forum on Ecological Civilization. In 2017, it was included in the first batch of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's national list of open facilities for environmental protection and urban sewage and garbage treatment facilities. It was also one of the first pilot units opened to the public in Guizhou Province. In 2020, it was listed as a landmark historical building in Guizhou Province's ecological civilization construction, receiving approximately 300 visitors annually and accumulating over 5,000 visitors in total.
So far, the group's projects have been honored as one of the Top Ten Environmental Facilities Open Units for three consecutive years. The group places high importance on environmental education and practice, possessing three national-level, one provincial-level, and four municipal-level science museums across 22 provinces and cities. As of 2022, the total reception has exceeded 100,000 person-times, demonstrating high public participation and significant effectiveness, as well as typicality and innovation. This achievement showcases the group's practical actions and results in ecological and environmental protection and the joint construction of a beautiful China, further enhancing the public's awareness of ecological civilization and highlighting the purpose of the event.
