Innovation-driven Development CWEG Unveils Solutions for Sustainable Development at BEYONG Expo 2023

Science and Technology Innovation Expo (hereinafter referred to as "BEYOND
Expo 2023") was held in the Macao Special Administration Region from May
10 to 12, 2023. Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of Macao, Wan Gang, Vice Chairman
of the 13th CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of the China Association for
Science and Technology, and Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province
attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. As one of the largest and
most influential international technology expos in Asia, this expo has
attracted over 1,000 companies from around the world, including Fortune 500 and
large multinational corporations. As a professional technology investment
platform for water environment and recycling, CWEG was invited and Chairman Hou
Feng gave a keynote speech on behalf of CWEG.

According
to Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of Macao SAR, the SAR government promotes the
"1+4” diversified development strategy, in which high-tech is a critical
part. We are actively improving the science and technology innovation system to
bring in more talent and to integrate industry, academia, and research. The
BEYOND is a platform where the world can better learn about China's development
philosophy, path, and model and where exchanges are allowed to be made to
promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. He
believes that Macao will support the Greater Bay Area in scientific and
technological innovation, promote exchanges and cooperation in the digital
economy, green industries, and other aspects, and continues to play a unique
role in the construction of The Belt and Road.
Wang
Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, pointed out that Guangdong and Macao
have continuously strengthened cooperation in scientific and technological
innovation in recent years, with the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone
in Hengqin as a major platform. Guangdong is accelerating the construction of a
whole-process innovation ecological chain, continuously deepening cooperation
with Macao in technical innovation, strengthening communication, and promoting
the construction of an international technology innovation center.
Wan Gang,
Vice Chairman of the 13th CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of the China
Association for Science and Technology said that BEYOND has become an
influential conference for science and technology innovation in Asia where
China and enterprises from across the world make exchanges and communicate to
promote scientific and technological innovation in China and Asia.
Jin Liqun,
President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AIIB, Pan Jianwei, Vice
Chairman of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Executive Vice
President of the University of Science and Technology of China, President of
CAS Center for Excellence in Quantum Information and Quantum Physics, Academician of the CAS, Academician of the
World Academy of Sciences, Andrew Sheng, Chief Advisor of the China Banking and
Insurance Regulatory Commission, and Advisor of the Chief Executive of Hong
Kong on High Quality and Sustainable Economic Development, Kishore Mahbubani,
founding president of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy National
University of Singapore and former President of the United Nations Security
Council, and Joseph Tsai, co-founder and executive vice chairman of the Board
of Alibaba Group, delivered keynote speeches.
Jin Liqun,
President and Chair of AIIB said that he saw a more financially inclusive Asia
at the Expo. The AIIB believes that financial services like issuing credit can
help people get out of poverty, enabling them to invest in education,
insurance, and businesses, and withstand the impact of climate change. He also
pointed out that digital infrastructure is crucial, and the AIIB prioritizes
infrastructure development that supports the expansion of the digital economy,
such as building 5G base stations and fiber optic cables, as well as
transforming infrastructure into digital and intelligent ones, such as smart cities
and smart growth.
Hou Feng,
Chairman of China Water Environment Group, was invited to deliver a keynote
speech entitled "Innovation and Practice of Green and New Infrastructure
Construction for Future Cities". According to Hou Feng, CWEG’s
self-developed DURWecosystem brings along the application innovation. The
plants were built aboveground in a distributed way now built underground in a
centralized way. Four centers of water resources, green energy, digitalization,
and comprehensive spatial utilization that are highly integrated with cities
are taking shape. CWEG will support the Greater Bay Area in technological
innovation and green industry development, and provide Chinese solutions for
global sustainable development.

Since its
first held in 2021, the BEYOND Expo has become one of the largest and most
influential international science and technology expos. Focusing on "sustainable
development", "life sciences", and "consumer
technology", this year's Expo was held in Macao and Hengqin at the same
time, which is expected to bring vitality into Macao's "1+4"
moderately diversified development strategy, accelerate the construction of the
Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, deepen Guangdong-Macao
cooperation, and progress the construction of the International Science and
Technology Innovation Center in the Greater Bay Area.
