CWEG’s Shanghai Jiading Branch Listed the “2023-2024 Shanghai Popular Science Base”

Recently, the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality unveiled the list of “2023-2024 Shanghai Popular Science Base” with a total of 301 selected, including 55 exemplary ones. The Shanghai Jiading Water Environment Science Museum of China Water Environment Group was listed the “2023-2024 Shanghai Popular Science Base” and has become a demonstration base in water environment. Adhering to the ESG concept, CWEG continues to play an active role in promoting water ecological protection, and advancing green and high-quality development.

The Shanghai Popular Science Bases are places where the public can access scientific and technological knowledge, including methods, ideas, and the spirit of science. Insisting on promoting water knowledge, water utilization, and water protection, CWEG actively conveys the concepts of sustainable development to the public. CWEG has been listed the “top ten units open environmental protection facilities to the public” for three consecutive years.

Shanghai Jiading Water Environment Science Museum

The Shanghai Jiading Water Environment Science Museum is the first water environment science museum in East China that integrates publicity, popular science, and education. It covers an area of approximately 3,000 square meters and has received over 500 visits since its opening in 2018, with over 10,000 online and offline visitors. "The Uncovering Secrets of Water", "Water and Ecology", "Life and Water", and "The Future Water Environment" are its four main exhibition halls. Highlighting sound and light effects, artificial intelligent explanations, and game interaction, the museum presents to the world advanced wastewater treatment technology, construction and future development of water resources, and encourages the public to save water, love water and protect water.

Underground is the Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang WWTP. Adopting the DURWecosystem, it's the first demonstration project of underground WWTP in Shanghai, dealing with 150,000 tons of wastewater per day. The water used in the ecological park and the 20,000 square meters of ecological lakes are all high-quality recycled water, which is essential for recreational activities. The factory has been selected as the “top ten units open environmental protection facilities to the public” in 2022 and is known as the "most beautiful water plant in China" for its positive role in progressing ecology and promoting green and low-carbon concepts.
