Technology Impulses Ecological Progress — Homepage of SASAC Website Introduces the Erhai Lake Project

On November 25, the video of the Dali ErhaiLake project of China Water Environment Group under the State Development and InvestmentGroup was presented on the homepage of the State-owned Assets Supervision andAdministration Commission of the State Council. By developing the Distributed UndergroundReclaimed Water Ecosystem, CWEG will make unremitting efforts to protect theErhai Lake.

InJanuary 2015, General Secretary Xi emphasized the importance of protecting theErhai Lake and preserving its natural beauty.

Atpresent, the Erhai Lake in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Provincewere covered with Ottelia acuminata, a plant that survives in waters ofextremely high quality and is known as the “touchstone of water quality”.

In 2016, CWEG wasrecommended to take charge of the Erhai Lake trunk sewer construction project(the first Phase) under the PPP mode. The project involved 6 high-standardunderground WWTPs, forming an integrated rural wastewater treatment system toprotect the Erhai Lake.

TheDURWecosystem has changed the ways of how the world dealing with sewage forcenturies. Instead of discharging the urban sewage as pollutants, we use it asa stable resource for urban water recycling and we dedicated in its scientificcollection and resource utilization. Through technological innovation, thisproject saved investment of approx. RMB 600 million, shortened the constructionperiod by approx.9 months, saved land area of over 160 mu (approx. 10.6 ha.),and reduced 20 million tons of water pumped from the Erhai Lake every year, achievingthe 100% recycling of water resources, land resources and green energy. Thewater quality of Erhai Lake has been improved with the pollutants in the lakegreatly reduced.

In2020 and 2021, the water quality of Erhai Lake reached case-II for 7 months andcase-III for 5 months and was rated as excellent. According to People’s Daily,the water clarity of 2022 is regarded as the best in nearly three years. InNovember 2022, the Group’s Dali project has won the IWA Project InnovationAwards. Adhering to technological innovation, CWEG has offered Chinesesolutions for world's water environment governance and resource utilization.
