CWEG Donated RMB 3 Million to Guang’an City for Water Environment Management and Poverty Alleviation

     On March 11, 2016, CWEG donated RMB 3 million to Guang’an City for comprehensive water environment management of “Deng Xiaoping’s hometown” and poverty alleviation. Hou Xiaochun, Secretary of the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee, Tian Yu, President of CITIC Private Equity Funds Management Co., Ltd (CITICPE), and Hou Feng, Chairman of CWEG, attended the donation ceremony and delivered speeches.
      Yan Chunfeng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor of the Guang’an Municipal Government, Xiao Lei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guang’an Political and Legal Affairs Commission, Yang Liming, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee and Secretary General, CWEG vice presidents Chen Ming, Li Guoshan and Li Feng, leaders of relevant departments in Guang’an City, and news media including the Xinhua News Agency, People""s Daily Online, Guangming Daily, China Construction News, China Economic Net, Xinhua Net as well as Guang""an TV Station attended the donation ceremony.
     At the ceremony, Xiao Lei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guang’an Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and CWEG Sichuan Division General Manager Wang Donger respectively introduced the progress of the Guang’an “Clean Water Action” Regional Water Environment Management PPP Project.
      According to CWEG Chairman Hou Feng, after winning the Guang’an “Clean Water Action” Regional Water Environment Management PPP Project as the private party, CWEG has been endeavoring to implement the project in line with the spirit of General Secretary Xi""s important instructions of “At present and for quite a long time to come, Yangtze River ecological restoration should be put in an overwhelming position, to focus on extensive protection, not to engage in large-scale development”. Under the leadership of the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee and the Guang’an Municipal Government, and with the support of relevant departments, the project has progressed smoothly and made remarkable and phased achievements. In the future, CWEG will bear in mind Deng Xiaoping’s instruction of “We must develop Guang ""an well”, strengthen project communication and ensure project quality. CWEG is determined and confident to collaborate with the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee, Guang’an Municipal Government and people of all ethnic groups to step up the “Clean Water Action” project with satisfactory results, in a bid to benefit both the country, people and future generations, helping build the project into a premium example relying on the increased support of all relevant parties.
       CITICPE President Tian Yu pointed out in his speech that CITICPE and CWEG always commit to assuming their social responsibilities, and developing social undertakings and a harmonious society at the best of their ability. The donation only represents CWEG’s modest effort to fulfill its social responsibility, commemorate the great achievements of Deng Xiaoping, and appreciate the support it gains from the society. In the future, CWEG will increase investment in public projects according to its abilities. To better implement, construct, operate and manage the project, and thus enable the sustainable economic and social development of Guang’an City, Tian Yu required CWEG to give full play to its expertise and technical advantages by adhering to the development concept of “professionalism, keeping ahead, integrity and win-win result”. For CITICPE, it will also actively seek in-depth cooperation with Guang""an City in a wider range of areas.     As the CPC Guang’an Municipal Committee Secretary Hou Xiaochun emphasized at the ceremony, the Guang’an “Clean Water Action” Regional Water Environment Management PPP Project is currently China’s only PPP demonstration project in regional cross-watershed water management, which not only provides strong guarantee for Guang’an City’s economic and social development, but also ensures the safety of drinking water for 30 million people in Chongqing. The project is of great significance to water conservation and biodiversity protection of the ecologically sensitive areas of the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River and the Three Gorges Reservoir Region. And further, it also serves as an example for the ecological construction and sustainable development of the urban agglomeration in the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River, as well as the establishment of a long-acting environmental management mechanism. “Both the government and the people have the confidence and determination to build it into a benchmark project at the national level,” Hou Xiaochun said, “CWEG has been dedicated to promoting project construction and contract performance since it becomes the private party of the project, showing professionalism ,integrity, pragmatism and its pursuit of excellence. We are deeply grateful for CWEG’s efforts made to alleviate poverty and  help the ecological civilization construction of Guang ""an City, and its care for the people of Guang ""an with a strong sense of social responsibility.
