The “Advanced Treatment and Utilization Technology for Municipal Wastewater” National Engineering Laboratory Project Jointly Submmitted by CWEG Got Approved
2016-06-12 Recently, the Department of High-Tech Industry of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) arranged for experts to review the national engineering laboratory projects related to the fields of environmental protection and crime prevention and control system and submitted by relevant entity applicants. The “Advanced Treatment and Utilization Technology for Municipal Wastewater” National Engineering Laboratory project jointly submitted by Beijing University of Technology, CWEG and other partners has been successfully chosen as a candidate and gone through the period for announcement. In the context that it was the first time that the NDRC approved the setting up of national engineering laboratories in the field of environmental protection, this project stood out from fierce competition and took the crown after a series of project defenses organized by the NDRC and Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform. It is currently the only national engineering laboratory in the field of municipal wastewater treatment.
The project has an estimated total investment of RMB 50.0062 million and is scheduled to be accomplished within about 3 years beginning from April 2016 and ending March 2019. The National Engineering Laboratory will incorporate six major technologies, including WWTP upgrading and energy-saving technology, new technology for nitrification and phosphorus removal of municipal wastewater, technology for intelligent monitoring & control of WWTP treatment process, efficient urban and rural wastewater treatment facilities and operation technology, physical-chemical treatment of reclaimed water, urban water security guarantee and evaluation technology.
Placing a high value on technical R&D and innovation, CWEG has basically developed an “enterprise-centered, market-oriented, and industry & university & research combined” technical innovation system through years of expertise accumulation. Working in partnership with a team headed by academician Peng Yongzhen at Beijing University of Technology, CWEG has made extraordinary achievements in the R&D and promotion of advanced wastewater treatment technologies like AAO (anaerobic-anoxic-oxic) process and short-range denitrification, which have been applied in more than 10 projects including the Guiyang Nanming River project and Beijing Bishui project. The successful approval of this National Engineering Laboratory indicates that the technical innovation abilities of the enterprises involved have been fully recognized by the NDRC.
Taking this project as an opportunity, CWEG will continue to increase investment in technology R&D, construct academician workstations and national engineering laboratory innovation bases in the Tongzhou Bishui WWTP, and carry out engineering researches on advanced applicable technologies related to further wastewater treatment, energy consumption reduction and WWTP upgrading, so as to further enhance its technical competitiveness and improve the technical level of the urban wastewater treatment industry, contributing to the overall improvement of water environment quality in China.
