Zeng Zanrong, Secretary of the CPC Tongzhou District Committee, Investigated the Bishui Underground WWTP Project

2017-12-19
On the afternoon of Dec. 18, 2017, a 10-person delegation led by Zeng Zanrong, Secretary of the CPC Tongzhou District Committee, investigated the Beijing Bishui Underground WWTP Project invested and built by CWEG, to learn about the progress of water environment management in Tongzhou District and the construction and operation of the Bishui Underground WWTP. The delegation included Fang Yajun, Director of the Tongzhou District Water Authority, and Zhang Xiujie, Section Chief of the Tongzhou District Water Authority. CWEG Vice President Shao Yanqing and Beijing HQ General Manager Li Tao, etc. accompanied the delegation on the inspection.

During the inspection, Fang Yajun and Zhang Xiujie respectively reported to the delegation on the scope and plan of water environment management in Tongzhou, the Bishui Underground WWTP’s technical and model innovation, and its contribution to the improvement of river water quality after being put into use. At the Yudai River, the delegation checked the pollution control and treatment tank construction. CWEG Beijing HQ General Manager Li Tao introduced that the effluent produced by the Bishui Underground WWTP has achieved the Surface Water Quality Standard Class IV in terms of major indicators, and can be widely used for urban municipal water supply and ecological water replenishment of rivers.

Zeng Zanrong highly commended CWEG’s Bishui Underground WWTP Project for its remarkable achievements made in promoting water environment management and improving the ecological environment of Beijing’s sub-center Tongzhou, and its exemplary role in enhancing the region’s economic and environmental values.

As a key PPP project of the government, the project leverages CWEG’s fifth generation of proprietary underground WWTP system to reduce land use, minimize environmental footprint and improve resource utilization. After the upgrade, the WWTP’s capacity will increase by 80% to 180,000t/d, occupying only 1/3 of the area of the original WWTP. The effluent will achieve the Surface Water Quality Standard Class IV, and above the WWTP, a c. 56.5 ha. Bishui Park will be built in line with the concept of “sponge city”.

At the underground WWTP, the delegation also investigated the treatment tank, and praised the project for its clean and tidy underground environment, along with clear and odorless high-quality effluent.

Zeng Zanrong particularly learned about CWEG’s fifth generation of proprietary underground WWTP system and core technologies, and acknowledged the group’s leading technical edge in China’s water environment management industry. He also emphasized the significance of the Bishui Underground WWTP as the training base for Beijing Party members and leaders, encouraging CWEG to make positive contributions to the healthy and rapid development of environmental protection industry.

Leaders including Zhao Lei, Deputy Secretary of the Tongzhou District Committee, Wang Yanshi, Deputy Head of Tongzhou District, Zhang Ruobing, Director of the General Office of the CPC Tongzhou District Committee, and Hu Kecheng, Director of the Construction Management Committee of the Tongzhou New Town Area, participated in the inspection. Grand Canal (Beijing) Water Company President Zhang Qi and General Manager Wang Fengguang, as well as Beijing Xintong Bishui Recycled Water Co., Ltd. Executive Deputy General Manager Cao Liyong and General Manager Shi Naibiao accompanied the delegation on the inspection.
