A Delegation Led by Zou Shoumin, Director General of the Science and Technology Standards Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Investigated the Madi River WWTP of CWEG
2018-03-27 On March 27, 2018, a delegation led by Zou Shoumin, Director General of the Science and Technology Standards Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), Xia Guang, member of the Science and Technology Standards Department Committee of the MEE, and Wang Zelin, head of the technology division of the Science and Technology Standards Department of the MEE, investigated the Madi River WWTP of CWEG. At the WWTP, they learned about CWEG’s core technologies and the WWTP’s effluent quality in detail. CWEG Guizhou Division General Manager Gao Lin and General Manager Assistant Yuan Ju accompanied the delegation on the inspection, and reported on basic WWTP information and river pollution control in the Guiyang Economic & Technological Development Zone.
Leaders including Liu Chengdong, Chief Engineer of the Guizhou Provincial Environmental Protection Department, Xu Hui, Director of the Technology Department, Xiang Zikun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Guiyang Economic & Technological Development Zone and Director of the Management Committee of the Guiyang Economic & Technological Development Zone, accompanied the delegation on the inspection.
At the WWTP, the delegation visited the high-efficiency sedimentation tank, UV disinfection channel, water outlet, and the aboveground landscape park, etc., and learned about the WWTP’s construction, operation status and wastewater treatment process in detail. They highly praised the WWTP for its contribution to the ecological civilization construction of the Guiyang Economic & Technological Development Zone.
“As a new type of underground WWTP, the Madi River WWTP is eco-friendly and contributes largely to the protection of surrounding ecological environment, playing a pioneering and exemplary role in promoting the establishment of national ecological industrial demonstration parks in the Guiyang Economic & Technological Development Zone. The WWTP should be promoted nationwide,” Zou Shoumin said.
During the visit, considering that the WWTP is located near the residential area, Zou Shoumin particularly checked the operational effectiveness of the deodorization system. Adopting a fully enclosed underground structure, the WWTP uses high-efficiency technology to thoroughly remove odors that plague people around. It was highly praised by the delegation as an example in practicing the concept of “environmentally sound and green development”.
