The Sino-German Centre for Water And healTh researCH (WATCH) Gets Funded by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission
2018-08-10 Recently, the “Sino-German Centre for Water And healTh researCH (WATCH)” jointly built by Xin Kai Water Environment Investment Co., Ltd. under CWEG and RWTH-Aachen University stood out from nearly 100 projects and became one of the first international science & technology cooperation projects funded by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission. It is also the only international joint laboratory with water as the theme that gets funded by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission.
As a cooperation platform between CWEG and RWTH-Aachen University in China, the WATCH aims to promote Sino-German bilateral research cooperation, talent exchange, transfer of advanced technologies and transformation of achievements through carrying out a series of scientific research in the field of water environment and health. To be specific, the scientific research will focus on high-efficiency & land-saving wastewater treatment technology, key technology and construction mode of green infrastructure for wastewater treatment, decentralized wastewater treatment facility testing technology and standard system, sludge-based phosphorus recovery and utilization technology, removal of new pollutants, and IoT-based intelligent WWTP operation solution.
In particular, the establishment of the decentralized wastewater treatment facility testing and assessment platform will fill China’s gap in this field, and boost China’s water treatment market including the rural water treatment market.
The goal of the WATCH is to build a world-leading transnational joint research laboratory focused on the research of cutting-edge water treatment technology & equipment, innovation model, standard system, and achievement transformation, and to drive the application and promotion of international advanced environmental protection technology and industrial upgrading through industrialization, so as to boost the development of high-grade, precision and advanced industries in Beijing, making itself the benchmark for the innovation and development of the water treatment industry.
