Jiao Xiaoping, Director of the China PPP Center of the Ministry of Finance, Highly Commended the Dali Erhai Lake Water Environment Management PPP Project: Staying True to its Mission to Create Win-win Results
2018-10-11 In order to promote the concept of “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets”, on Oct. 11, a delegation headed by Jiao Xiaoping, Director of the China PPP Center of the Ministry of Finance, inspected CWEG’s Dali Erhai Lake Water Environment Management PPP Project as a PPP demonstration project of the Ministry of Finance. CWEG Chairman & President Hou Feng and CWEG Yunnan Division General Manager Meng Jianwei accompanied the delegation during the inspection.
Hou Feng briefed the delegation on this project and its wastewater interception system and WWTP trail operation, etc. According to Hou, in view of the urban form of Dali and the special ecohydrology of the Erhai Lake, CWEG has innovatively proposed the “sponge farmland” technology system for building a high-standard underground WWTP, and meanwhile, combined with the tourism planning of Dali, it has launched the green development plan, creating a win-win situation for the government, people and private party.
The underground WWTP features “eco-friendliness, land intensiveness and resource utilization”, creating significant environmental, social and economic benefits, and thus was highly recognized by Jiao Xiaoping.
Later, the delegation visited the underground WWTP and investigated its wastewater and sludge treatment process and operation status. At the outlet, they checked effluent samples and found that the effluent is clear and odorless, exceeding the highest standard currently in China.
The delegation gave high recognition to this project and hoped that CWEG can continue to push forward WWTP operation in a safe and efficient manner, so as to step up the protection and management of water environment in the Erhai Lake watershed. The project has become an exemplar project in China’s water environment management industry.
