Chen Guoqiang, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province, Praised CWEG's Ankang Central Area Water Environment Management PPP Project
2018-11-20 On November 20th, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation Forum 2018 was held in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. On the theme of “Integrating the Greater Bay Area and Balancing Development Between Regions”, the forum gathered over 400 representatives from industrial and commercial communities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, famous entrepreneurs, experts and scholars.
Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People""s Political Consultative Conference, Chen Liangxian, Vice Governor of Guangdong, Dai Jianye, Director of the MES of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Chen Baili, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong SAR Government were in attendance and delivered speeches. CWEG Chairman Hou Feng, who was invited as a distinguished environmental expert of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, made a speech.
Chen Liangxian said that in order to comprehensively boost the great cause of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation, Guangdong will put its focus on “coordination” and “innovation” during its participation in constructing the Greater Bay Area. With the motive of building a world-class bay area and city cluster with unprecedented vigor and international competitiveness, the province will take a series of key measures including striving to safeguard people’s well-being, promote sci-tech innovation, protect the ecological environment and advance the inter-connectivity of infrastructure.
On the morning of Nov. 20, a delegation headed by Chen Guoqiang, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province, and composed of leaders from the Environment Protection Department and the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department of Shaanxi Province, inspected the Jiangnan WWTP as part of the Ankang Central Area Water Environment Management PPP Project invested and built by CWEG. Zhao Junmin, Mayor of Ankang City, and Deputy Mayor He Bangjun, accompanied the delegation on the inspection.
Chen Guoqiang underlined the importance of water environment protection and management in Ankang City, which, located in the Upper Reaches of the Hanjiang River flowing in the southern foot of Qinling Mountains, is an important water conservation area in the middle route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project. “To unswervingly win the battle against water pollution and restore lush mountains, blue sky, lucid waters and fertile land for Ankang City, we must closely follow President Xi’s thought of ecological civilization and the concept of ‘Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets’,” he stressed.

Chen Guoqiang gave credit to CWEG for pushing forward the construction of the Jiangnan WWTP efficiently. He raised requirements of “high standard design, high standard construction and high standard operation”, urging CWEG to build the WWTP into the first eco-friendly WWTP in Northwestern China, making it an exemplar of water environment management in Shaanxi Province.
