The State-owned Investment Corporation Committee under IAC Highly Commended CWEG’s Dali Erhai Lake Project

On Feb. 22, 2019, the Second Meeting of the Standing Council of the Seventh State-owned Investment Corporation Committee under the Investment Association of China (IAC) was held in Dali, Yunnan province of China. 
 
  Wang Huisheng, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee under the Chinese People""s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Chairman of the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee under IAC, President of the State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC) and Secretary of the Leading Party Members"" Group of SDIC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Looking back on China""s economic growth in 2018, Wang summarized the work done by the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee in the past year. He also gave member entities of the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee credit for their remarkable achievements, motivating them to steadily pursue high-quality development in 2019 while taking precautions against risks, so as to continue to deepen China""s reform and better improve people""s lives.  

  The meeting held in Dali, Yunnan province, reflected an active effort of the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee to promote the construction of ecological civilization proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the 19th CPC National Congress, and to follow Xi""s instructions on the protection and management of Erhai Lake, Wang remarked. With the endeavors of SDIC""s major environmental protection platform CWEG, the water quality of Erhai Lake has been greatly improved compared with previous years, mainly thanks to the underground WWTP that is an outcome of high-quality development and innovation model, signifying a successful implementation of China""s green development strategy. In the future, the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee will continue to contemplate how it can get deeply involved in the national planning of ecological civilization construction, and how to build up premium Chinese enterprise brands to compete internationally.  
    CWEG Chairman Hou Feng was invited to give a report entitled “How to Build a World-leading Water Environment Management Brand of China”. In his report, Hou pointed out that “water environment management” has already been included in the national strategies and three major campaigns of China (referring to air, water and soil pollution prevention and control campaigns),with explicit goals to be achieved and requiring the joint effort of all stakeholders. CWEG has been playing a strong role in the course of China""s ecological civilization construction and sustainable development, where it only spent4 years building the high-standard patented underground WWTP with the top 1treatment capacity worldwide. 
  CWEG now has an extensive footprint across the country and operates a bunch of national PPP demonstration projects. With the mission of “Building a World-leading Water Environment Management Brand of China” and the goal of “Providing People with a Better Life”, CWEG will constantly enhance its technology R&D strengths, explore innovative models for integrated water environment management, boost ecological protection innovation, and provide continued momentum for constructing a beautiful China. At the meeting, Hou also expressed his hope to partner with member entities of the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee to create mutual benefits and promote the high-quality and green development of China.  

 On the afternoon of the day, member entities of the State-owned Investment Corporation Committee inspected the Wanqiao Underground WWTP and Xizhou Underground WWTP as part of the Dali Erhai Lake Water Environment Management PPP project, and learned about CWEG’s world leading underground WWTP system with extraordinary treatment capacity and related sophisticated technical facilities. The member entities gave CWEG admiration for its innovation, R&D, operation management and investment strengths, hoping to open up more business cooperation opportunities for win-win outcomes.  
   CWEG Vice Presidents Chen Ming, Mo Haiping, Li Feng and Zhang Lujing, and CWEG Yunnan Division General Manager Meng Jianwei attended the meeting.
