Exploring industry-university-research-finance cooperation: CWEG and CAS advance actions under strategic agreement

       On May 15, 2020, Zhong Guodong, member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Vice President of State Development & Investment Corporation (SDIC), and CWEG Chairman Hou Feng met with Zhang Tao, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) , discussing further actions under the strategic agreement.

       SDIC Vice President Zhong Guodong thanked the Chinese Academy of Sciences for its long-term support and assistance to the development of SDIC on behalf of Chairman Bai Tao and President Shi Hongxiang. He recognized their collaborative achievements in equity investment, Xiong’an New Area project and National Engineering Laboratory project, and expected further strategic cooperation in operational asset management, scientific research and personnel training.

       CAS Vice President Zhang Tao welcomed Zhong and his team to visit CAS for further cooperation when China’s epidemic prevention has entered a normal stage. Zhang spoke highly of SDIC’s performance in serving national strategies, promoting emerging industries, and actively fulfilling social responsibilities as a central enterprise. Zhang said that in the past two years, their cooperation under the strategic agreement was intensive and productive, and proposed a communication mechanism to supplement each other and achieve deeper and more productive cooperation.

       CWEG Chairman Hou Feng expressed his expectation for in-depth cooperation. He said that CWEG, as the only professional water environment service platform under SDIC, would continue to accomplish SDIC’s mission of “shoring up weak spots for a better life”. “With the support of SDIC and CAS, CWEG will enhance collaboration with research institutions and capital markets, speed up talent development, and establish bases to incorporate collaboration results into national strategies such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Yangtze River Economic Belt, and Protection of the Yellow River Basin,” Hou said.
