Join Hands with SCO to Build a Green “Belt and Road”

The Expert SeminaronSCO Environmental Information Sharing Platform was held in Shanghai from April 20-21, 2021. China Water Environment Group (CWEG) was invited to deliver a speech on the event. This conference is themed Biodiversity Conservation & Ecological Restoration. During the seminar, Yerik Sarsebek Ashimov, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Zhai Guiying, Deputy Director of Foreign Economic Cooperation Office, Ministry of Environmental Protection of China, and other Chinese and foreign guests visited the Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Underground WWTP built by CWEG. Qiu Xiangdong, Deputy General Manager of COMPLANT, Zhang Hongyao, General Manager of the Strategy Department of COMPLANT, Zhang Lujing, Vice President of CWEG, and Mao Rui, General Manager of CWEG Shanghai Jiading Branch joined the visit.

The delegation led by Mr. Ashimov inspected the above-ground landscape park, water science museum, intelligent operation and maintenance center, and underground processing unit. Exuberant woods, blue sky, clean lake. The park came alive in the pleasant spring. There are also green spaces, football field, and a children's playground in the park. The ecological lake is clear enough to see fish swimming around. Water used to replenish the park’s water system and the ecological lake of more than 20,000 square meters is of high-quality reclaimed water that meets the national standard.

The landscape park and water science museum on the ground effectively solve the neighbor disputes that are common to traditional sewage treatment plants. Meanwhile, the plant provides citizens with a beautiful living environment and cozy leisure space. It is hailed as “the most beautiful water plant in China.”

Mr. Ashmov also inspected the underground treatment units of the plant. The working staff gave a brief introduction to the effluent standards, the quality of reclaimed water, and operation status of the plant. After checking the quality of the treated water, Mr. Ashmov spoke highly of the CWEG achievements and the favorable plant environment.

During the seminar, Mao Rui on behalf of CWEG, gave a presentation themed “Distributed Underground Reclaimed Water Ecosystem Helps Achieve Water Ecological Restoration”. Mao Rui introduced the Group and showed in detail the Shanghai Jiading Nanxiang Underground Reclaimed Water Plant, a national demonstration project. It’s learned that the plant has won high recognition at home and abroad. In particular, the SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov applauded the advanced technology of the group and successful application of the system after he inspected Tongzhou Bishui Underground Wastewater Treatment Plant in Beijing in February, 2021.

As the innovator and leader of the underground reclaimed water ecosystem, CWEG will continue to maintain close cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Group aspires to build the Shanghai project into an international benchmark and a platform for foreign cooperation. In addition, CWEG deems it as an opportunity to salute the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, vowing to promote the high-quality development of water treatment and contribute to ecological restoration and the green “Belt and Road”.
